A new survey by Ovum suggests that there is a lack of ‘buy-in’ about the benefits of enterprise architecture amongst business leaders.
Mark Blowers, an Ovum lead analyst, said the survey revealed that there is “still some way to go before an architectural approach is relevant outside of the IT function for many organisations”.
He said that while IT departments are successfully exploiting the approach, its potential will not be realised until enterprise architecture becomes an integral part of business decision-making.
“There needs to be complete buy-in across the entire organisation, and at the highest level,” said Blowers.
“There has to be a fundamental belief in architecture, which can only come from the prime strategists within the organisation.”
