Frucor goes live with HANA in NZ

By Eleanor Reader

One of Australasia’s largest beverage manufacturers and distributors, Frucor, has implemented the SAP HANA platform to run its SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (SAP NetWeaver BW) application.

SAP partner Realtech worked with Frucor to implement the solution into the company’s cloud operating environment, making it one of the first implementations of SAP HANA in New Zealand.

The project went live in December, with a continuing roll-out through January.

“SAP NetWeaver BW running on the SAP HANA platform will give us the ability to greatly simplify our business intelligence environment and process all of the data we receive from all of our activities more rapidly, to turn it into actionable business intelligence,” said Mark Palmer, IS program manager, Frucor. “In a fast-moving industry such as ours, we need to have greater visibility into our information more quickly – the SAP HANA platform will give us the capabilities to do just that.”

Realtech is testing and validating the database migration, and then managing the design, configuration, performance measurement and optimisation of SAP NetWeaver BW running on SAP HANA.

The platform integrates structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources, performs server-intensive transformation in the main memory and can work on detailed data without aggregations.

“It is the perfect solution for Frucor, because Frucor captures data in a wide variety of formats and it was very CPU-intensive to process the various inputs. With the SAP HANA platform, Frucor will be able to greatly simplify their BI environment and business users will enjoy access to greater levels of detail with unprecedented performance,” said Joanne Hand, managing director, Realtech NZ.

This implementation follows the migration of Frucor’s SAP ERP application and business intelligence systems into a cloud environment last year, a project also managed by Realtech.
