SAP is in search of a new Global Channel Chief after the recent departure of Rodolpho Cardenuto, the President of SAP’s Global Partner Organisation (GPO) for nearly five years.
Departure After Over a Decade
Rodolpho Cardenuto worked at SAP for nearly 11 years. A native of Brazil, he joined the company in July 2008 as president of SAP Latin America. In January 2013 he moved up to president of SAP Americas where he served for one-and-a-half years before being named GPO President. Cardenuto, was the company’s global partner chief for five years. SAP has 18,300 partners worldwide as of the third quarter of this year thanks in no small part to Rodolpho Cardenuto and his initiatives.
As President of SAP’s Global Partner Organisation, Cardenuto was instrumental in expanding SAP’s channel efforts which included boosting software sales through partners, growing the roster of partners in the company’s PartnerEdge program and the Cloud Choice platform through which partners sell SAP cloud applications. These boasted sales and partnerships have helped SAP expand their already extensive global reach.
What is Next?
Cardenuto left SAP in December to “pursue his next endeavor,” according to an SAP spokesperson. No additional information on Cardenuto’s departure is currently available. Cardenuto’s departure came as a surprise to SAP as an organisation as well as a number of SAP’s leading channel partners.
Cardenuto’s departure comes as SAP is transitioning from perpetual licensing to subscriptions or cloud-based application delivery. This in not dissimilar from the recent shift the Microsoft has made with Office 365. While the company has made significant progress on that front with strong technology partnerships and development efforts, it is also trying to broaden its reach to SMBs.
The SAP spokesperson said the company has yet to name a successor for Cardenuto and did not provide a timetable for hiring his replacement.
