User-oriented IT solutions firm LANDESK made two moves in the first half of October, acquiring management firm Naurtech, which offers the only SAP-recommended mobile browser in the market, and making application wrapping available as part of LANDESK Mobile Application Management.
The acquisition of Naurtech gives LANDESK control of the company that “develops connectivity solutions to provide mobile access to enterprise data and applications using CE platform devices”.
For LANDESK, this means more mobility solutions, while also providing existing Naurtech customers with a far larger support community.
“We have been impressed with the product offerings Naurtech has developed,” said Steve Bemis, vice president, mobile productivity business unit, LANDESK.
“Naurtech brings complementary expertise that will strengthen support for our mobile operating systems and provide support for additional ruggedised devices. We are thrilled to bring Naurtech into the LANDESK family.”
LANDESK management plans on keeping the Naurtech unit separate from the rest of its offerings.
In addition, LANDESK’s new application wrapping capabilities are one aspect of a range of new upgrades and features added to its Enterprise Mobility Management platform, allowing IT departments to build in extra security to enterprise apps intended for end-users. This will particularly be useful in applying mobile app security to corporate Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies.
“We strive to provide users with the most intuitive and easy-to-understand products available,” said Stephen Brown, director of product management, LANDESK. “While most application wrapping software is quite cumbersome, our solution allows an IT administrator to wrap an application in one step and deploy it to users. We know this simplicity will improve the productivity of the IT managers and their user base to help them focus on the important tasks they need to accomplish.”
