Lemongrass and Microsoft Co-Innovate to Modernise SAP Environments

Following a multi-year expansion of their existing partnership, software-enabled services company Lemongrass and multinational tech giant Microsoft will co-innovate SAP offerings to assist businesses in transforming and modernising their SAP environments on cloud computing platforms provided by Microsoft.

Lemongrass has established itself as one of the market-leading experts in planning, migrating, operating, and automating SAP solutions in the hyperscale cloud environment including Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. In October 2021, the Atlanta-based consulting firm formed a strategic alliance with Google to maximise the SAP on cloud experience. As part of the companies’ agreement, Lemongrass will leverage Google Cloud Platform’s (GCP) tools for data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) in delivering its standard SAP migration projects.

Demonstrating its commitment to helping enterprises run their SAP systems in the cloud, Lemongrass also obtained the SAP on Azure Advanced Specialisation status from Microsoft. This further reinforces its SAP certifications in SAP S/4HANA and the SAP certification in OS/DB migration for SAP NetWeaver which are all under the SAP PartnerEdge program.

Last month, Lemongrass also announced the acquisition of Wharfedale Technologies (WFT) to accelerate its multi-cloud strategy, broaden its cloud infrastructure portfolio, and incorporate other hyperscale platforms, such as Azure. It can be noted that Microsoft is significantly investing in Azure and expanding its SAP-specific automation capabilities – an area Lemongrass focuses on.

Modernising Customers’ SAP Environments Through New Expanded Partnership

Recently, Lemongrass and Microsoft unveiled the establishment of a multi-year collaboration geared towards supporting large and middle-sized organisations in modernising their legacy SAP environments. Building on an already existing cooperation between the two tech companies, the arrangement intends to enable the co-development of SAP-centric products and services leveraging the capabilities of Microsoft’s cloud computing platform.

Expressing enthusiasm to have Lemongrass as its strategic partner, Joao Couto, Commercial Partner Lead at Microsoft, stated that their joint objective is to streamline the process of managing SAP systems for customers, from the initial migration to long-term support. He further shared in the press release:

“Having gotten to know Lemongrass well through the partnership development process, we are confident they are the right choice to invest in and work with to grow our SAP on Microsoft business.”

Also commenting on the expanded strategic alliance, Lemongrass CEO Mike Rosenbloom remarked:

“We are very excited about our Strategic Partnership with Microsoft and collaborating with their engineering and sales teams. Lemongrass and Microsoft have a common vision to drive a superior SAP operating experience and enable the highest level of agility and innovation in a secure, trusted cloud environment.”

With the overall goal of maximising the value of clients’ investments in SAP technologies while also creating new opportunities for digital transformation and innovation, the following are key aspects of the Lemongrass and Microsoft’s partnership:

  • As a Microsoft Cloud innovation partner, Lemongrass will be able to cooperate with the company on design and engineering projects for SAP clients on the Microsoft Cloud.
  • The proposed global integration of the Lemongrass Cloud Platform with Microsoft Cloud will allow SAP users to take advantage of the combined capabilities of Microsoft’s open and flexible computing platform as well as Lemongrass’ innovative services and automation.
  • As part of the strategic alliance, teams from both Microsoft and Lemongrass will work closely on product and solution updates.
