Melbourne City Football Club, part of the multinational City Football Group, is using SAP SuccessFactors to boost employee engagement as well as team performance both on and off the field.

Since 2010, the City Football Group has experienced the kind of organisational challenges associated with rapid growth, increasing from one team with 250 employees to six teams with more than 1,200 employees in 10 locations around the world, including UK Premier League champions, Manchester City FC. The club embraced SAP SuccessFactors to meet its challenges with performance reviews and global collaboration, enabling them to align global and local HR objectives and strategies and to increase productivity throughout the organisation.

SAP SuccessFactors has enabled the club’s staff to share best practices across teams and to work together more effectively and more efficiently. The club is now able to benchmark roles around the world, enabling it to quickly identify and reward high-performers.

“City Football Group has an ambition of becoming the most tech-advanced football organisation in the world,” said Scott Munn, CEO, Melbourne City FC. “Melbourne City plays a pivotal role in achieving that goal but it starts with our people. From coaches to dieticians and the IT team, everyone has an important part to play in making sure players perform at their peak on the field and technology can really help achieve this. As we grew, we knew our success would depend on having great technology and seamless processes in place to support all of our employees,” said Munn.

“With SAP SuccessFactors, Melbourne City FC has put its people front and centre with its fans. Both want an incredible experience, and by aligning people with the organisational purpose, everyone wins,” said Aaron Green, head, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Australia and New Zealand.

“Using SuccessFactors to deliver great people and culture outcomes has also cut down the time spent on frustrating calibration exercises, reduced manual errors which occur in handwritten documents and is empowering staff to be at their best in a fast-paced environment,” said Green.
