More updates to SAP EIM’s portfolio

SAP has announced a further range of updates to its enterprise information management (EIM) portfolio, including enhanced support and connectivity for big data sources, improved capabilities around data stewardship and metadata management, and a pay-as-you-go cloud data quality service.

“By effectively managing enterprise data to deliver trusted, complete and relevant information, organisation can ensure data is always actionable to gain business insight and drive innovation,” said Philip On, vice president, product marketing, SAP. “We continue to support our customers on their digital transformation journey with a data foundation that provides real-time access to relevant and reliable data.”

SAP Data Quality Management microservices has been introduced as a new cloud-based offering, available in beta on SAP HANA Cloud Platform, developer edition. The service will help to ensure clean data by providing data validation and enrichment for addresses and geocodes within any application or environment.

Among the other changes are:

  • The inclusion of a new patent-pending data extra capability in SAP Data Services, enabling rapid data transfer from Google BigQuery to processing systems such as Hadoop, SAP HANA Vora, SAP IQ, SAP HANA and other cloud storage.
  • New functionality for SAP Information Steward to speed data resolution issues. According to SAP, users can now immediately view and share data quality scorecards across devices without logging in, as well as access information policies. New metadata management capabilities will also provide a means to quickly search and explore metadata discovery.
  • New collaboration and data remediation capabilities in the latest version of SAP Agile Data Preparation.
  • Additional performance and connectivity functionality for SAP HANA smart data integration and smart data quality, included in the latest release of the HANA platform, to provide faster and more robust data replication, virtualisation, and quality through one user interface.
