Longtime Newcrest Mining CIO Carl Duckinson has left the organisation, after seven years.
Duckinson’s former 2IC, Gavin Wood, has taken on the role of CIO at Newcrest, while Duckinson has set up a new IT consulting business, TACT Consulting, together with former colleagues Athol Marks and Tom Bendistinto.
With significant experience in the mining sector among the founders, TACT will be focused on serving asset-intensive industries, which face many common issues in IT.
The TACT team will be providing IT consulting services in strategy and architecture, service management, procurement and management support, business process change and solution delivery and implementation.
Prior to his time at Newcrest, Duckinson worked in senior roles for Avanade and BHP Billiton. He has a strong track record in forming strategic partnerships with major vendors such as SAP, IBM, Microsoft and Telstra, and also has extensive experience moving organisations to the cloud. He recently undertook an implemention of SuccessFactors at Newcrest.
Marks and Bendistinto also most recently worked at Newcrest – Marks as manager, IT – mining and minerals, and Bendistinto as manager, IT service delivery. Marks held previously roles at Sensis and BSkyB, while Bendistinto undertook stints at Datacom, Avanade Australia, Razor Risk Technologies and Resolve Software Group.
