Leading accounting and advisory firm, Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) has acquired Avantis, a business intelligence (BI) and Analytics implementation consultancy, specialising in SAP’s BusinessObjects solution suite products.
Founded in 2001, with only 22 members of staff, Avantis doubled its revenue in the last three years, generating 80 per cent of its revenue from its consulting and SAP training services.
According to PwC, Avantis’ success highlights that BI and Analytics has become a high growth market, fuelled by the explosion of ‘big data’ and an increasing demand to manage and predict business performance using real-time fact based analysis.
“Avantis’ team will provide valuable expertise in assisting with business intelligence and analytics,” said Mark Johnson, CEO, PwC, around the time of the acquisition’s completion late last year.
Johnson concluded that Avantis would be “helping to deliver on our [PwC’s] promise to clients that PwC can support them from strategy through the execution… making change stick”.
Avantis’ David Cookney and David McAmis will continue to run the Sydney and Melbourne operations.
