New Academic Competence Centre

Victoria University in Melbourne, will be a new Academic Competence Centre (ACC) location in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region. The new strategic partnership will help accelerate the education of next-generation leaders using the latest SAP technologies with universities across APJ.

SAP Next-Gen for youth empowers more people to do good deeds with SAP technology. This is done via the SAP University Alliances community of 3,600+ educational institutions in 117 countries, 138+ SAP Next-Gen Labs, 107+ SAP Next-Gen Chapters, and non-traditional educational organisations such as non-profits and accelerators. The aim is to make the SAP technology platform available to academia, youth, and non-profits driving education linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and to reduce the technology skills gap across the world by building up SAP skilled talent.

The ACC location at Victoria University will support the SAP University Alliances community in APJ of 600+ educational institutions in 18 countries, 30 SAP Next-Gen Labs, 15 SAP Next-Gen Chapters, and non-traditional educational organisations such as non-profits and accelerators.

“Today’s businesses are tapping into the mindset of academic thought leaders, researchers, students, and startups, and are linking innovation to a higher purpose,” said Ann Rosenberg, senior vice president and global head of SAP Next-Gen, SAP. “As an SAP Next-Gen Lab, Victoria University has been fostering open innovation for a long time, bringing together students and the SAP ecosystem, start-ups, purpose-driven partners and futurists to use SAP technologies to drive innovation with purpose. We are proud to take this partnership to the next level.”

Strategic Partnership

Victoria University will partner with academia in APJ to enable faculty and teachers to educate the next generation talent for the digital future. This will be done by developing SAP skills, engaging with SAP events, building industry partnerships, launching graduates in the SAP ecosystem, empowering the digital university, and inspiring young thinkers. SAP customers will be able to tap into this digitally educated and purpose-focused talent pool to support how they digitally transform into best-run, intelligent enterprises.

“VU already has a worldwide reputation in the use of SAP software to support its teaching, with VU’s Master of Business (ERP Systems) taught in Australia, Singapore, Beijing and India. Its new ACC role builds on the opening of Australia’s first SAP Next-Gen Lab in 2017, having one of three SAP Next-Gen Chapters in Australia, and its leading position in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and Business Analytics education,” said Dr Scott Bingley, ERP expert and senior lecturer, Victoria University. “This is an honour that we share with only a handful of universities worldwide and demonstrates we are one of the leaders in this domain and we continue to drive digital skills and innovation for the future.”
