SAP entices customers to adopt HANA with ‘Simpler Choice’ database program

By Nicholas Greene

SAP has announced a ‘try before you buy’ program to help customers find the right approach to end-to-end data management for their organisation.

Aimed at those looking to simplify their IT landscapes and focus on business innovation, the ‘Simpler Choice’ program offers a three step approach to ‘Try, Buy and Run’, offering customers free value engineering assessments, trial offers, simplified database licensing, waivers for service and maintenance costs and an investment protection plan.

“For the last four years, SAP has been committed to disrupting the database market with dynamic solutions that challenge old database architectures,” said Steve Lucas, president, Platform Solutions Group, SAP. “With programs like Simpler Choice, we are making it easier than ever for our customers to focus on innovation instead of integration.”

Lucas’s announcement came at the SAP TechEd &d-code event, held in Las Vegas in late October.

The program covers solutions including the SAP HANA platform, SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise, SAP IQ software and SAP solutions for enterprise information landscape.

Customers will be able to use SAP HANA trial offers to explore cloud and on-premise deployments, and if they decide to buy, can take advantage of simplified licensing to “mix and match” data management solutions for deployment in various SAP application scenarios. Under the terms of the program, SAP will also offer services credit for database migrations and reduced maintenance costs during the migration period, lowering the cost and risk of migrating to SAP HANA, according to the vendor.
