SAP will license and resell the deviceWISE IoT platform from Telit Communications, a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), in an effort to move customers from a reactive business position to a proactive stance in asset management.

The agreement between Telit and SAP is expected to offer a foundation to easily and securely connect devices, deliver data to SAP enterprise systems and extract value through SAP HANA, across several markets and industries worldwide for remote machine monitoring and control, production diagnostics, predictive maintenance and remote service.

“Our collaboration with SAP creates a new way for companies to onboard to the Internet of Things. We look forward to serving new and existing customers across different industries and markets worldwide,” said Oozi Cats, chief executive, Telit.

Telit and SAP have already been working with a wide range of companies of all sizes to drive business transformation with the IoT, increasing operational efficiencies to reduce expense, generating revenue from new products and services and improving compliance.

For example, the companies worked together with a global leader of commercial cleaning equipment to implement an integrated IoT solution to extract real-time performance data from remote cleaning machines to generate actionable insights using big data analytics.

The collaboration enabled the organisation to analyse its data on when and where facilities are cleaned, where machines are physically located, all consumable levels, to perform preventative maintenance and to initiate replacement parts orders on a single unit or its entire fleet.
